Refrigeration and air-conditioning

Welcome to cool training

Refrigeration Department at Technical College of Jutland is the only place in DK where you can educate as a refrigeration engineer. At the same time we are the biggest provider of in-service training in this trade. You will meet a school full of experience and know-how in the field of refrigeration technology. Educating as a refrigeration engineer will open doors to employment in a trade with many interesting working fields. A refrigeration engineer works independently with plant constuction, implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting and lots of other things.

The course of training

It takes 4 years to become a refrigeration engineer. Of this, 55 weeks are spent at technical school. It is an option to start in the firm.
You will have 20 weeks at school as a start: ”basic training course”. Here you get aquainted with several of the educations belonging to the same family. The last 4 weeks of the basic course has direct focus on refrigeration – here we are making a small cooling system.

Upon this, you will work in practice in the company that has apprenticed you. Later comes the ”main training course”:3 school intervals of 10 weeks’ duration, and a 5 week course in which a final test completes the apprenticeship.

Profile

The refrigeration department deals with 2 main areas:

  • Training of all refrigeration engineers in the country. TCJ is national college for this education.
  • In-service training of metal workers etc. These courses are given by The Metallic Industries In-service Training Board.

An overview of these courses can be found under the item : ”in-service training”.

The department also provides courses tailored to the individual company. To mention a few: training in electronic regulation of refrigeration plants; teaching legal regulations – that is, if you opt for a certificate – and furthermore, courses for foreign technicians who need know-ledge of Danish approaches to operating refrigeration plants.

The department comprises 6 teachers and a Head of Department. This staff have much experience with refrigeration systems and the control of these. Their educational backgrounds are either refrigeration engineer or machinery engineer.

The refrigeration department is always looking forward to welcome trainees, for the participation in one course or more.
