Electrician - education
Becoming an electrician is a vocational education, switching between practical training in a company and theoretical teaching in a technical school. This education is placed in the entry Technology & Communication.
As an electrician you must be fond of working with mathematics, physics, Danish and English. You must have good colour-sight as well as a sense of tidyness. You must be handy and dexterous, and you must be able to work and think independently.
The course of training
Depending on which branch of specializing, it takes 4 or 4½ years to become an electrician. Of this, 55-60 weeks is spent at a technical school. You will have 20 weeks at school as a start: ”basic training course”. Here you get aquainted with several of the educations belonging to the same family. Upon this, you will work in practice in the company that has apprenticed you. Later comes the ”main training course”: school intervals of 10 weeks’ duration, the last one including a final test to complete the apprenticeship.
